Physical Therapy

The ACMC Physical Therapy department provides a full range of therapy services that enable patients of all ages to reach or return to their highest level of physical ability.

Areas of service include:

  • Acute outpatient clinical care
  • Sports medicine
  • Pelvic floor dysfunction
  • Long term nursing home care at Bethesda Heritage Nursing Home (Willmar)
  

Patients are evaluated and treated for:

  • Injury and disease causing muscle, joint and spinal problems
  • Range of motion and strengthening following total joint replacement surgery
  • Acute & long-term work related injuries
  • Edema (swelling in upper or lower extremities)
  • Sports injuries
  • Neck and back pain
  
  • Rotator cuff (shoulder) injuries
  • Bursitis
  • Carpel Tunnel Syndrome
  • Pelvic Floor Dysfunction (Incontinence)
  • Weight loss
  • Post fracture care
  • Strokes
  • Chronic wounds
  • Balance disorders

Therapy is provided through:

  • Specific strengthening exercises
  • Joint, spinal and soft tissue mobilization
  • Back and neck treatment including Spinal Decompression Therapy
  • Orthotics (shoe insert) evaluation and fitting
  • Job and worksite evaluation and modification
  • Biofeedback
  • Low level laser treatments
  • Iontophoresis, phonophoresis, and ultrasound
  • Individualized home exercise programs
  • On-site athletic training services at local high schools and Ridgewater College - Willmar
  • Evaluation of baseline fitness level through VO2 assessment and determination of resting metabolic rate.
  • Gait training
  • Heat and cold therapies including use of Game Ready for treatment of acute ankle and knee sprains
  • Work conditioning programs
  • Athletic training seminars
  • Pre-employment back screens
  • Compression stockings
